Palm Tree Shadow Optical Illusion is a
clever way to raise awareness about saving
trees. There's nothing unusual about this shadow of a palm tree - except when you see that there is no palm tree around to be found. Just a
concrete pylon within a courtyard with a painted-on
shadow. The concrete pillar is lettered with "Nothing can replace a tree".A good way to send a message.

Just turn the image
upside-down and the wine
glass will be seen standing outside the tray (restore the picture). This illusion was invented by G. Sarcone for a
sciences festival on optical illusions.

The Ponzo illusion is an optical illusion that was first demonstrated by the Italian psychologist Mario Ponzo (1882-1960) in 1913. He suggested that the
human mind judges an object's size based on its background.
The typical example of this is the figure below. This is the typical railroad track scheme usually used to represent this illusion. The
vertical lines appear to go off into the distance like train tracks. This gives us the impression that the line in the distance is
larger then the line that appears to be nearer to the viewer.

Seeing this illusion against a great real
photo backdrop can be amazing. Most of the time people pick train tracks. Below is an outstanding photo that presents this optical illusion slightly different...
The two red lines below are duplicates, they are the exact same size. Which image is more convincing the one with two lines or the one with four lines?

Monday night (December 1, 2008) there was a bright cosmic frown in the sky. The planets Jupiter and Venus briefly aligned forming two eyes and a moon forming a smiling mouth.
Jupiter is much larger than Venus, it appeared dimmer, because the latter planet is so much closer to Earth.Plus, Jupiter is much farther away from the sun than Venus, so the light bouncing off it is much less intense than the light bouncing off Venus, which hasn't had to travel so far.
It is called a planetary conjunction, the two planets —the brightest in the night sky — appeared extremely close. They won't be this close together and well-placed for viewing again until May 2013.
